Sumatriptan 50mg

Sumatriptan 50 helps in relieving headache and migraine pain. It belongs to a class of medicine known as Triptans. The main ingredient in the medicine is Sumatriptan Succinate 50mg. This medication does not help in preventing migraines but it is effective in relieving pain. It reduces neurogenic inflammation and helps in getting relief of acute migraine attacks. Sometimes a migraine is preceded by an aura that is a sensory disturbance. It also happens after eating certain foods or not eating regularly, or having your sleep pattern disrupted or stress.

USAGE

Sumatriptan 50 is available as an oral tablet. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Also, you can use it as an intranasal spray or in an injection form. The dose of the medicine varies accordingly in what form you are taking the medicine. The maximum dose should not exceed more than 200mg a day. Try not to repeat the medicine without doctor’s instructions. If the patient does not have any response to the first dose do not take the second dose and contact your doctor. Try to avoid chocolate and alcohol during the treatment.

DOSAGE

The patients should not change the dose of medicine on their own. It is prescribed by your doctor according to your health conditions and your response to the treatment. Try to keep the dose low and do not start or stop the dose without doctor’s advice. Overdose of medicine can cause side effects like vomiting, nausea, and numbness.

PRECAUTIONS

Avoid Sumatriptan 50 if you have severe unstable hypertension or high blood pressure as it can increase the blood pressure. Try not to take any MAO inhibitors during the treatment. Try not to take the medicine if you are allergic to the main composition of the medicine or other inactive expedients. If you have a liver problem or any symptoms, consult your doctor beforehand. Keep the medicine in a cold and dry place.
